Bakersfield Mold

Sandi and I were so very happy that her company has relocated the both of us to Bakersfield California. You see we lived in the Yucatan area in Mexico. We have both always loved the clear warm waters of the Caribbean Ocean. We found our home in the area of Play Del Carmen for those of you who have not been to this area. It is about one hour south of Cancun and just across the bay from the Island of Cozumel. Due to the cost of living and my job with a local Real Estate company expiring. We decided to move to south Florida. The Naples area, which of course, is also, located on the warm water coast. See I have always loved my fishing. Since, I was born and raised on an Island myself.

Well anyhow Sandi decided to go back to work for her employer of 16 years to get her retirement. So the only offer she had was in a place called Bakersfield California. You know the place where people are so protected by the government on human rights. The best place in the country to live for human rights. "WRONG" We would later find this out.

Anyhow we made the move from Florida to Texas where all of our stuff was stored, and then to Bakersfield, California. This was quite a drive several thousand miles I believe. We arrived in Bakersfield in November of 2001. Sandi's company had put us up under the relocation for several months if needed until we could find proper housing. Sandi's new job was located several miles out of Bakersfield to the southwest. I mean right smack dead in the middle of the desert. The people out here call it the San Quaquin Valley. I call it Kern County California.

On January the first we moved into our new rental home in the area of Taft, California which was only some 8 miles to her work site. Sandi is one of these computer Guru's and I have been in Real Estate sales and development most of my life.  

Well the first thing I wanted to do was get my California Real Estate License and to get to work.

You know all of the big bucks out here in California that you hear about.

The home we rented was about 40 years old, but of course in this are of California most of the homes are that old or older. Now here is our mold story! 

After living out new rental home for about three weeks Sandi and I both noted a change in our health. We of course thought it must be this dry climate I mean they only get a few inches of rain in one year here. And that rain is in just one month of the whole year. Who ever said mold cannot grow in a dry area with no humidity. I mean we are in the Desert. "DUH"

Well I started to fall a sleep just a little more than average. Kind of like 20 hours per day and had no energy. My allergies started to kick in, runny nose, then stuffy nose, then dries out nose like dried mud. I started to have leg cramps and sever gas pains. My bowels got so bad I was passing blood in just the first month of living in this area. Sandi was always tired and the first thing we started to think is her Cancer is back again. You see my wife is a Breast Cancer survivor of three years now. Time to see the doctor. "YEA RIGHT" What is a Doctor now days in this great state of California? Some one to take your Co-pay. Give you a Z-PAC and tell you to come back next month so that the Doctor can get the next months Co-payment form the insurance company.

Now I have to tell we have been to over 45 doctors in just 14 months of living in the great State of California and not one I mean not one doctor has even tried to help us get well. "EVER HEARD A STORY LIKE THIS ONE? I BET YOU ALL HAVE".

Now I had juvenile Asthma and allergies all of my life form the age of three. Sandi has never had anything until the Cancer.

OK, so after about one month in this home we find raw sewage running from under the house. You say you didn't smell it after leaking for over a month under the house. Well it seems that, it was running out the side of the house down the hill into the next door neighbors yard. You would have thought they could have said something. Funny not here in California everyone is scared to death to speak their opinions.  So we call the landlord. Hey we have a major sewage leak in the yard and the plumber comes out and fixes it. Next month the same thing and the month after that for 9 months. This home had roots growing in the sewer lines. I guess the trees needed a little fresh water in the desert so the kept entering the sewer pipes which in turn caused the toilets to back up and tubs to not drain.

Well I am still pretty sick at by this time my health is getting worse everyday. In May I had to have a Navel Hernia repaired because of the hard coughing I have been through for over 5 months now.  NO one cared what caused the hernia or about my cough. But you know those Doctors love to cut you up and make the big bucks out here. 

Well let's see for the past 5 months Sandi and I have had these common health problems.

Pay attention for this will let you know if you have mold in your body.  Night Head sweats, Fatigue major, Low body temperature of 97.1, elevated White Blood Count or WBC, thickening of the bottoms of my feet and turning black - yes Black like I have been walking in old motor oil, Red spider veins on my face - arms - legs - chest - ears - nose. Red neck you know I am from Texas. I mean my neck is so red with lesions the doctors claim I am a drunk. But I don't Drink never liked the stuff. Blurred vision, veracious veins in legs and under arms, swelling big time under both my arm pits, dry skin and flaking, itching everywhere, jock itch, testicle problems with swelling, blood clots in lover legs and testicles, hemorrhoids, nose bleeds, cough with brown specks in sputum and blood, whizzing, shortness of breath, asthma again, ABPA, Heart problems major, headaches, Depression, sore joints mostly ankles and feet, and floppy left foot when walking, major weight gain, mold induced Cholesterol gains / Trygyserides from mold in liver.

OK that, is enough for now but believe me there is lots more wrong with us.

Back to May, after my Navel Hernia surgery. About three weeks I start having heart attacks.

It seems my blood pressure is now out of control and my heart is missing beats big time and I have chest pain all day and night and heart Flutters. You know Flutters are when you are going over a short hill real fast in the car and lose you stomach for a second or two. So I have now been to over four different ER rooms for my heart and the doctors tell me I am fine. "DUH" then why do they always want to transfer me from the Hospital in Taft 50 miles away to the Hospitals in Bakersfield.

Now we are so sick and totally burned out on this landlord for not fixing the sewer and water leaks in this house. So we fill a complaint with the Health Department in California. They tell us they can not help but to call the Kern County code enforcement officer he will make her fix the leaks. You now all of the great renters rights out here. "WRONG" The laws are in place in California, but they do not work, because no lawyer will help you in court against your landlord. That would be a sin.

So the Code enforcement officer comes out and rights this lady up for everything, He also says you should have this house checked for mold. So we did.

We found over 13 different molds in the home. So now we have to learn what mold really is and can it make you sick or not. Maybe it is something else?

We go to our Doctor and say hey we have molds in our house and need to be checked out and treated for them. Yea right she drops the both of us like hot pancakes just like the next 20 doctors do when you say "MOLD"

 Anyhow our landlord files suit on us, eviction, you know get your butt out today.

We hire a local attorney because he is the only one in town. But he can't help us much in court because the Judges and Lawyers out here are all pro-BIZ.  And lord and behold at the hearing the Kern County code enforcement officer is there to help our landlord get us evicted. "AND HE DOES JUST THAT". You have to really just love America by now "WE DO".

So we finish our testing of this home hoping to find legal and medical help somewhere I mean anywhere by now.  I mean thing about this; you are already sick and dying from mold and you have to move your whole house or they will do it for you. 

So here is what has happen to us now, no lawyer to help. We did find a Doctor but not threw our insurance carrier PacifiCare HMO or the new one United Health Care. But we did find a Doctor in Santa Clarita, California who would treat us for a very large fee out of pocket. He did do the right blood work up on us and did find three deadly molds Toxins in our blood. Yes Black mold too. But what now? You have to rich in this country to pay these medical bills. I mean $2,000 dollars for the first visit one hour. And $350.00 per hour after that. Well as you can see there is no help in California either for mold victims.  We are on Sporanox now and a very high detox's regiment of vitamins.

My wife and I had a new kind of medical scan taken of our bodies several moths ago. It is called an EBT CT scan - Electron Beam CAT scans full body scans. The scan found nodules in both my wifes lungs and mine mold. It also found that I had a major blockage in my left main artery just above the bundle branch. They call this the silent death because you just go to sleep with your coffee cup in your hand and never spill a drop with this heart attack. They also discovered that Sandi and I have Mitral value prolapsed or MVP, Valve damage to all three heart valves from mold infection, our blood veins are now shot from mold, and now have Colonic Diverticulosis from the mold in my guts. We both have lung blockage in our bronchial tubes and our lungs so not exchange Oxygen or CO2 like they should from mold.

Understand we have had to pay for these test out of our own pockets even with HMO and EPO insurance coverage from Sandi's employer. The insurance companies have blocked all treatment and testing for our mold conditions. Well not all but the ones that will win a court cases for you in a mold injury lawsuit. If they even exist?

Now back to the EBT scan it might have just saved my life by finding the heart blockage. I will let you know later? I had already visited Bakersfield finest cardiologist some 4 of them. Only to be told my heart is just fine. Now I have a cardiologist who is working on me keeping my fingers crossed. It seems the mold made my liver dump tons of the bad Cholesterol in my blood not to mention the Endocarditis or heart infection from the mold tearing at my heart muscles valves and arteries.

Now get this I also have a Paralegal Certificate so you know where I am heading with this.

I filed on all of the Doctor who would not treat me for mold. Which is a violation of California State law as well as medical malpractice. Most of the Doctor told me they would not treat me even if I did have mold because of the high cost to the insurance company. Right, This should have gotten those Doctors disbarred from the medical profession. "WRONG".

The state dropped my case with the Medical review board of California, stating I did not prove any thing. Even though not one of these 45 doctors now has treated me for my health needs.

So I filed charges against the insurance carrier PacifiCare HMO of California. "HUG" Ha ha

"WRONG". They allowed the insurance carrier to have private meets with the state board and file false documents to cover their bad faith. The state refused to ever provide me with any documents as to the hearings or what PacifiCare had provided the state against me. Now this is the Fox guarding the hen house. The Insurance Company is not allowed under Federal or local state laws to deny any patient the right to care because they don't have a toxicologist in their net work. The laws states they have to find you one or provide one for you that you find on your own. It is called out of network care. Wrong.

I filed Federal Mail Fraud Charges against PacifiCare HMO California. You know the companies on TV who take your money for service not provider or rendered. Or the company mail orders who never send you anything and if they do it is junk, and not what the picture showed it to be.

So this is how I see it. PacifiCare took our money, which we paid in good faith by mail and wire transfers. They gave us an insurance policy in writing that did not exclude mold coverage on our health coverage and care. So we have paid every month in good faith and they have eaten the whole hamburger. But they did not provide us with any mold treatments to this day or as of 1-1-2003 when we renewed with another carrier.

I have to tell you that all mold survivors should file the same charges if your insurance companies will not pay for treatment.

I WOULD HAVE TO TELL YOU, WE ARE BOTH TIRED OF THIS CROOKED SYSTEM OUT HERE AND HOPE SOME OF YOU ARE HAVING BETTER LUCK. 

But as you can see we have gone over board with fighting this American system against mold and you can see where this has gotten the both of us. We are still paying for our mold treatment and my heart is dying along with both our lungs.  

I could have had someone spell check this article for me but why. I am now handicapped by this fungus and this is the true me. Even though I have may certificates and an MS degree. So you too are having problems writing what you think then you too could have mold on your brain.
